I'm going to replace the 30 feet of lead pipe that connects my boiler to the bathroom (should stop the hot water taking a minute or two to actually get hot!). I was planning on using plasic pipe and will need to connect it to the 3/4" pipe that connects to the taps.

1. Are in-line connectors available to connect the 15mm pipe to the 3/4"? All I can see on B&Q is male or female connectors, which I assume go straight on to the taps?

2. There are earth cables attached to the existing copper pipes, if I am removing the copper piping, what do I do with that?

al - proper plumbing place should have 'odd' adaptors - are you using JG Speedfit?

You would have a metal (copper or lead) at each end still (your plastic pipe cannot go to the boiler, it needs last 300mm+ to be copper. These two metal pipe sections would need earthing IIRC.

Cheers Matt - I will use JG. Last time I went to the plumb centre they were really unhelpful and expensive ๐Ÿ™ I guess I'll have to try them again...

Yes - many trade places can be unhelpful - I find plumb centre rubbish in Sheffield too - but they have the parts / catalogues, and as long as you go in knowing what you want, they can usually come up trumps.

Expense - haggle!
