I was feeling a bit like it was just tv exec's trying to 'get an angle' on the thing for the 10th anniversary and fully expected a 'pets of 9/11' tv show to come on.

Then I heard this;

a letter to a mans nephew about his experiences on and after 9/11.

Personal, observant and human.

His summary of the results on American foreign policy of the last 10 years is damning.

To use September 11 to instill fear in a population at home and a clarion call for jingoistic excess abroad seems, to me, to be a betrayal of that days tragic dignity.

I find myself moved in a way I didn't think I would be and, in a way that endless reruns of the towers collapsing no longer does, perhaps because the shock of seeing it has been dulled by a decade of reptition.

all round a clear blue sky but to the south, a huge black cloud.

and then 'Sailing By' afterwards.
