Thea Gilmore would be appropriate really, as she used to record for the naim label.

Surely 'Kosheen' - (Sian Evans)? Not one vote, seriously or did I miss it?

Soko, only a EP to her name, I'll kill her is such a good song. Search myspace for a worthwhile listen.

Depends of your definition of laid back! ๐Ÿ™‚

Kate Rusby maybe? Practically horizontal IMO.

Jeez there are a lot of names.

Thinking some Cat Power and the Cowboys Junkies will be my next purchases, although I bit more Joss may be on the cards to.

Thanks
Gary

Carina Round? Not all that laid back though, and most of her recorded stuff doesn't do her justice really.

Natalie Merchant well worth a listen.

She was on radio 4 this week promoting some childrens poems which she has put to music, very moving on the M6 it was too.

Not exactly new either, but if you want laid back you could have a listen to Julia Fordham

Hows about:

Sarah Cracknell (St Etienne) and
Alison Goldfrapp if you want laid back stuff (can't remember if you did now?!)

Also; Eleanor Jackson from La Roux is quite an interesting one
