[#2656565]

Hi,

I'm going up to Wales to climb Snowdon this easter.

I've never been up there before and was hoping you could recommend me a good campsite to stay at. I'm going with my gf so preferably it should:

- Have good facilities
- Be near a pub
- Be near to the start of the Snowdon path

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Cwellyn Arms - top camping by the lake and the pub is only a 10 minute walk. Top landlord too.

Oh, and they have fire pits so you can keep all toasty.

😀

Cwellyn arms is the most expensive pub I've ever been in. Campsite is ok, facilities just adequate imo, can walk up ranger/rhy ddu paths from there which is the main reason we stayed. Know of nicer campsites round there but they don't fulfill your other criteria

Yup - the facilities look good but google says its expensive as hell. Still a possibility though, thanks for recommending it.

I think we're probably going to do the Llanberis route but hopefully the more interesting Pyg Track

This one looks great, if a bit further out too:

I tend to stay down in Beddgelert at either Cau Du or the forestry campsite because I like the village. But you will have to take the sherpa bus (very good) or drive (overfull car parks and expensive parking fees) to start your walk up Snowdon from most camp sites.

There a few a bit further afield round the corner in the Ogwen Valley. Nothing special, but have hot showers and washing facilities - what more do you want? Have not been up since 2009, but at £4 a night it was a bargain.

I've stayed at the one Gitter Gary links - but it was £18 a night back in 2006. Depends if you wants slightly better quality grass to pitch your tent on in exchange for a great view of Tryfan.

I think its key that its near a pub so we have somewhere to go and chill out/eat at night. We have a car but Sherpa bus would be fine. Finally needs to have good showers.

Thats about it in a nutshell. Thanks for all the help so far.

I've camped here before

Pub and pool on site and good toilets and showers.
