Pit Stop Tailors on the M1/A1 - Help!

Black and Ill-fitting from anywhere. You’re so dead already that the fit won’t matter lying in state. I’ve never managed to find a whole suit in the M&S at The Galleria in Hatfield. It’s an outlet for mismatched pieces.

You might want to take some needle and thread in a dark colour, since the trousers might need an adjustment. You can probably source an iron.

Up the A1, turn off to Huntingdon...
Not sure I’d recommend looking round the rest of the town though.

You really don't want to subject yourself to a tour of the town. The Old Bridge hotel and wine shop is about all the town has going for it. It truly is a god-forsaken part of the world.

I remember Cox's. Got my school blazer there. But you're right about Huntingdon

But you’re right about Huntingdon

It's the Fen influence along with being a dormitory town for Cambridge and London.

More so the after effects of being given over to overspill from thatthereLondon in the 1960s.

It's a wedding, not a funeral, so full matching suit isn't really required.

My go-to for the last few weddings I've attended has been skinny chinos/shrt/suit jacket.

But then I am 6ft tall and devilishly handsome.

OP here.

I managed to find the only matching trousers and jacket in approximately my size on the M&S website, and ordered it for collection from my local small M&S. I sneakily collected yesterday morning, immediately before setting off up North.

I had hoped to try it on before getting in the car to know if I needed to stop, but a few things needed doing at home last minute so I haven't even had chance to open it yet.

I had written down on a post-it note all of the places suggested on here up the A1/M1 route, with the intention of stopping at one of them, admitting my mistake and buying a back up suit incase the mystery M&S one doesn't fit, and then possibly returning one of them by post.

However...... Protesters closed the M25 yesterday near Heathrow, so after a few hours of being blocked in on the motorway we had to cross country up to the M40/M6 route. A 5.5hr journey became a 10.5hr, so didn't get the opportunity, or know where to stop.

So here I am, in a hotel room in Cumbria, with a sealed package from M&S. Rather than opening it today I went for a bike ride, and instead of opening it tonight I think I will go to the pub. My fate is sealed in that package, there is nothing that can be done now.

Brilliant! Well done on your priorities!
Can't wait for the photos of you in an oversized jacket and shorts!

I'm in the pub now, but I've just had a text and email from M&S reminding me that my order still needs to be collected..... Oh dear.

It’s a wedding, not a funeral,

It might be both for the OP if that suit don't fit. Get everyone blitzed they'll never notice....

Bad luck on the traffic. Hope the Keswick Oxfam 'emergency option' doesn't need deploying.

Who knew this would end up so tense and exciting?

If the OPs wife is careful about bloodstains she can return the suit/dress for a refund afterwards.

Do you think Hugh Grant will play your character in the Apple TV drama "One Wedding and a Funeral"?

You know we're gonna need pics with the eventual "suit reveal" post now OP?

And this may be redundant now, but why the chuff were you gonna drive the Heathrow side of the M25 then up the A1 / M1 instead of M40/M6 or M1/M6 in the first place?

This is entirely possible.

That'll be the trousers that came in a separate delivery...
