But six of the next ten days are forecast as raining, so am I justified in feeling maybe a little underwhelmed?

Yes. Few weeks ago booked time off work and places to stay, Met long range forecast was looking good and stayed that way. Until this Monday. Annoying way to use work days off and a bunch of money, I'd be happier if I'd not bothered. Although I did enjoy the looking forward to it aspect for the last two weeks.
Ignore any forecast that says anything other than constant flow of low pressure systems bringing rain/wind/cloud for basically the next 18 months minimum.
