Not sure why, but photoshop png outputs the other week kicked out some massive files. Now normally the 749x320 png i use is kb size. Small.
These were outputting at 4gb. I've not changed anything, didn't think to look at the file sizes and then my laptop has ground to a memory rammed halt.
Why?? And how can I fix it with limited admin rights on this work laptop?
are you sure you've got it set to 749x320 pixels rather than mm? (or possibly points)
Still saving as ping and not accidentally knocked it to bitmap?

Yeah, something wrong there. Can't imagine a PNG < 1000px can output anything near Gbs under any circumstances.

bummer - something has changed but it's difficult to see what. If you had it originally set to points and you had changed the display type then that might explain it but I don't think so as that is a massive change :(. no more ideas, sorry. Are you doing something like using photoshop on a different computer from normal?

I can only think that first update tripped something up with how PS was working
How big are the output files in terms of resolution? Are they definitely 749x320px?
Png files have capability for layers but as far as I can tell, not via Photoshop's quick export function. When you load the file back into Photoshop, does it load as a single layer image?
If you copy the png to an external drive or upload / email it somewhere, does it still take up loads of space? You ruling out a local filesystem issue.
4GB seems suspiciously close to 2 to the power 32.

What happens if you create a new file at 749×320 px and save out as a png? Is it still massive?
Adobe have probably switched off the setting that everyone uses all the time, hidden it about 4 menus deep, and replaced it with some bollocks

Sounds like it might be saving as a PSB which is a large file format. Photoshop often does this if somethings not right, such as resolution, mode, layers etc.
Check the file is flattened. Check resolution is actually pixels and not meters. Then save a copy as PNG.
