This is not my photo but one a friend took. I rescued and partly reared the little spider so do have a bit of a part in the photo. 🙂 She(?) is a juvenile [i]M.calpeiana[/i] or European Funnel web. They are fantastic little spiders, interesting to watch, very adaptable but unfortunately do get a rough deal by people.

The chap who took the photograph is a very talented lad who manages to capture inverts in very intimate and private activities, which is pretty good going considering most of what he photos whould like to chew his head off.

Roper, those photos are beautiful but I've had to get up and check under the sofa. I saw one of those centipedes once, huge, under a rock in the south of Spain. Totally freaked me out and remains one of the biggest shocks of my life!
A ride with my 63yr old Dad and my 57yr old Mum last week. This is a big ridge about 1000m above the van. Proud of them 🙂

They are called [i]Scolopendra cingulata[/i]They are venomous but not that bad are not too aggressive. They tend to run rather than attack. They have amazing electrical storm type patterning under their exoskeleton that's worth a look at if you find any more, just be a little careful as they are quite fast when they get going.
