Cassiopeia is a W shape pretty much overhead and to the north.
Algol, the Alpha star in Perseus is a binary with a red giant being orbited by a white dwarf, Sometimes it's a big red, easily identifiable star, sometimes less so. It's a 7 day cycle and if I hadn't had quite as much to drink, I'd go outside and let u=you know where we are. Anyway, peak show for the Perseids IIRC is Monday with a predicted around 100 ZHr (100 shooting stars an hour)
BTW, Algol represents the eye of the Gorgon, Medusa, who could turn a man to stone looking at him. Perseus slew the Gorgon by not looking directly at but used his shield as a mirror. He took it's head off, returned to court, took the head out of it's bag and promptly turned the evil queen Cassiopeia to stone and in so doing won the hand of the king's daughter, Andromeda
