Is Microsoft security essentials intended as a replacement for, say Norton. Does it do the same things? does it do them as well as paid-for software?
Getting a new lappy and trying to decide wether to fork out for Norton or just install MSE.

MSE - always.

Norton IS a virus.

Don't forget to install separate malware scanner too, & run them regularly, as good as MSE is... malware is tricky stuff.

Yes....I was victim to a bit of malware on the desktop recently....bit of a sod to get rid of...
