Okay, so people have warned me off PayPal gift. Guy in the states needs to send me £250 plus £30 postage. But fee hasd PayPal seems expensive. They take a collision on the exchange, charge a fee for the transaction and then, is there a cost to moving the money pack into my account?

Overall, how much is this going to cost me? Had a look at bank transfers but his bank want £60 to do that!

Cheers.

At current paypal exchange rates he needs to send you $469 for you to get £280 after all charges and whatever.

If he is just sending you £280, then at paypal rates he will send you $427, ie you lose out on $42 or £26.

Edited to add: at least, that's my best guesstimate!

Paypal gift is what you want. Its risky sending it if you're the buyer, but since you're the seller its fine.

Really? I thought the money could be charged back on payal gift so I'd send the stuff but end up with no money and no brakes.

Markie, very exact numbers. Thank you.

No, I dont think so. Besides, get it stuck in your bank account straight away. With the other paypal methods (which you pay for) it can be "charged back" if the buyer starts a dispute or whatever its called with PP.
