Is there an easy and cheap way?

My online banking doesn't do it, I suspect my bank will ask me to "Please bend over, Sir" re. charges.

How quick does it need to be? Smile bank have just added the facility to make foreign transactions through interweb banking - you could either open an account with them or find someone to act as an intermediary who could receive your funds then make the onward transfer

Roughly how much? (i.e 10s , 100s, 1000s 10000s ?) and is it a one off.

For big transfers (1000's plus) I use MoneyCorp where once you're set-up it's quite easy / painless / cheap

I could do it for you with my online banking (HBOS), if you trust me. Think the cost is £7.50/transaction but would need to check. Had to do it to buy those XT hubs from Germany.

Still haven't ordered spokes BTW

LloydsTSB online does it. No charge except in the rate used. Next day.

Tell your bank to sort it or you'll move.

I have a French account and can transfer to/from it at no cost. I'll do it for you (assuming it's not been laundered for some Columbian friends of yours... ) 🙂

Tried to find an easy option for this last year paying for a Chambre d'hote.... ended up swapping a load of emails, at which point they waived the deposit and we paid in full when we got there.

For smaller amounts there's not an easy way I found without paypal 🙁

I don't know what I find more surprising. The fact that you think that your bank will ask before insertion or the assumption that they'll say please.
