[Closed] Pain and humiliation

I have gout!
Apart from being somewhat humiliating, conjuring as it does images of fat, red-faced, port swilling Oxbridge academics, it is excruciatingly painful.
I now feel very guilty about teasing my dad when he had it, as he was an Oxbridge academic who liked a glass or twelve of port, albeit he wasn't particularly fat or red-faced.
I haven't been particularly overindulgent recently, maybe a bit heavy on the beer and red wine. Apparently there's a strong genetic element, so it looks like I'm condemned to a life of restricted beer, wine, red meat and seafood consumption.
Any fellow sufferers about?
