This coming Saturday 9th, my family are taking part in the Overgate Hospice  midnight walk in honour of my mother-in-law who passed away earlier this year after a brief battle with cancer.

Her last few days were spent in the hospice, a charity run and predominantly donation funded facility, local to us in Halifax, West Yorkshire.  It had been her wish to spend her last days there and they provided truly exceptional care and support to her and, indeed, all of us, through an incredibly difficult time as my own mother passed away only three days earlier.

They hold many fundraising events through the year and this is the first to come around since my wife lost her mum.  Admittedly, it is not the greatest feat of endurance or bravery, but 13miles around the hilly Pennines isn’t to be sniffed at, and we wanted to pay back to the charity at the first chance.  Maybe the greater challenge is having the kids get off their phones for the duration of the walk!

Any sponsorship or donations would be most welcome, hopefully the link below takes you to our Just Giving page.
