Looking at a cooker on ebay and the seller describes trhe item as
'Please note that is item is used and that the oven is not working, it needs a new mains terminal block.'
Should I walk away from this or is it quite a fixable option?

Walk away - it could be easily fixable but IMO you need to ask why it is like that?
