since downloading the virgin pc protection software, my e-mails in outlook don't download automatically - anyone else had this issue and know how to sort it out?

Ring Virgin Media customer services?..... 😆
Seriously, try uninstalling their crappy shitware and see if that fixes the problem.

Go into Outlook, click the send/receive settings and make sure the accounts are in the all accounts group and that they're ticked to do an auto send/receive.
PS - virgin media help is now fantastic. I dialled 150 on Friday and had a fix within 3 minutes.

Sometimes, the clue is in the question. Get rid of it and install Microsoft Security Essentials instead.
