[#2009172]

Im clueless here hence the desperate post on a cycling board 🙂

I owe a favour worth about £50 to a non smoking, teetotal veggie
And Im not kidding

He does however have a new interest in growing his own fruit and veg
AFAIK he doesnt have much stuff besides a spade and Im thinking there must be some mileage in finding a gift related to this

Can anyone think of anything?
Preferable that can be carried to his work on my bike?
Books???? Gear ????
Anything

And its definitely carrots and stuff hes growing too LOL

A nice Hoe/Rake.

Securteurs (sp?)

Dibber/trowel/hand fork

Old school watering can

Netting/small poly tunnel

That's what I use in my gardening job

You could look at the Wolf multi star range, it is basically a long handle onto which other bits can be attached, hoe, dutch hoe, rake etc., good if storage space is limited.

A Garden fork is pretty useful as well.

Yes, a PROPER fork. Old school and proper steel. Keep it sharp and clean and it'll last an age unlike the tatt in BQ/Homebase.

A Hawes metal watering can. Come in a nice wee presentation box. All different sizes available, look particularly good in copper.

Design classic. 8)

my GF bought me a lemon tree, currently has two yellow lemons and 30-40 swelling. I do expect to loose a few over the winter though. (they 12months to develop from flower to usable lemon)

A set of Felco secateurs. The best that money can buy and bang on budget. Will last a lifetime and fully repairable etc.

I've sent people trees by post as presents in the past.

I've also mail ordered fancy potatoes from these people. Although check with them if they have any outlets close to you, spuds are a bit expensive to post.

The book you want is The Vegetable and Herb Expert by DG Hessayon. An awesome book packed with knowledge and it's only five quid from Amazon.

A water butt, especially if he lives in the drier south. About £25 on offer in Aldi.
