I would also go with Peony, but from the thick woody stem below, probably a tree peony rather than the more popular herbaceous ones.

cheers guys, wondered what it was going to end up like.

Its massive. About 7 ft tall and 5 ft wide.

Peonys are beautiful when in full bloom. Not seen a yellow one only shades of red and pink.
