[#294250]

Want to purchase a scanner to digitise a large number of paper documents in an effort to clean up my house/office. I have large number of docs I wish to scan but also some photos.
There is a possibility that I may get back into shooting film at some stage and look to scan pics on a regular basis.
I've narrowed down my choice of scanner to either a Plustek 286 or Epson V500 scanner (with doc feed). If anyone has experience of any of these scanners or any recommendations then please post some details.
Cheers

Not on your list but I have an HP 8270 which has film scanner bit and ADF for large volumes.

Seems to be quite good but nothing to compare it with. Use it commercially for around 1000 pages a month of paper docs and it seems to cope quite well.

Get yourself some OCR software such as ABBYY Finereader as this will allow you to create searchable PDFs.

will probably go with the Plustek which looks good value but only has 600dpi

Q
not sure if you'll see this now as some time after I posted
Have come back to your recommendation after being messed around somewhat by company I was going to buy Plustek scanner with
With the HP did you find that you had to buy extra software or could you make do with the software included?
Have you had any problems scaanning docs in - I want an easy to use machine
And finally where did you buy it from?
cheers
