Ok, the wife's GHD's have a split casing at the rear and as a result the cable is free to move a little too much, having taken them apart the power lead goes into a small socket which despite my best efforts I've not been able to restore to it's non-arcing state. It has expanded out a bit following the broken casing causing the arcing.

So my quesiton is, has anyone used a GHD repair service like this at all, if so any good, are they worth the £30 or should I just fork out for a new pair for her?

Firstly are they new GHDs or the old ones? Pretty sure the wiring has a life time warranty as my mrs keeps banging on about her old ones being outside of warranty and she would have to pay for things to be fixed in which case I would just buy her some new dual voltage ones for Chrimbo

Just checked GHD website and they say only 24months for the mark fours and 12months for earlier models

they were mark 4's but they aren't more than 2 years I'd say, not sure if with the the casing being split warranty would cover it though.

http://www.ghdhair.com/customer-care/returns - always worth giving them a call if you're not sure although don't say anything about opening them up etc.
