Where you draw the line is obviously much harder to define.

It is, but rule number one is a good place to start. And Morgan is always on the wrong side of that even when his point is valid.

Funny how after a year of hammering Johnson he’s resorted to the same Chruchill meme playbook though

Specially funny when he flounced rather than hear a colleague's "free speech" !

I know others have said this but every stage of this has played out exactly how he wanted.

He leaves a contract early with maximum publicity before going off to a new, more lucrative contract. Perfect stuff (for him), exactly what he intended.

Morgan's idea of free speech is being allowed to run tabloid headlines falsely accusing British soldiers of being war criminals.

More than a whiff about the whole thing. Wonder if the GB News '*ankerman' contract with Brillo Pad heid was signed the day before?

Brand Morgan will be back, its worked well for him and ITV during the last 12 months appearing to be the man taking on the government (whilst simultaneously not landing a glove on them) and now as GB News (government broadcasting?) is recruiting and the alt-right/right-wing claim they have been silenced (pleeeeaaaaasssse....) now that the shouty orange poppet has departed his throne of tweets across the sea, perhaps they reached out to Morgan in an attempt to drag across a few floating voters from vague centre right (whatever that is) to join them. He will sit to the left of most on that show but perhaps he can double up as a royal correspondent given his expertise in that area or become the mental health champion, again he is blessed with an apparent expertise in that area also.

Countryside? yes, but don't be surprised if he returns like canoe man (hard done to IMO) but with a slightly different link to Panama.

I quite liked him, made for lively discussions, sure he annoyed me at times too, but I just switched over when he got too much, seemed to work ok

Worth catching the James o Brien podcast where they engaged an his war on woke and gets his arse handed to him by JoB

Roundly slapped down by much more skilled polemicist

The point above about all this paving the way for his appointment as token 'left'* commentator on GB news is pretty on the nose

* By their standards

Is that the same James O’Brien who demanded we all treat Carl Beech’s paedophile accusations as being “true” simply because he told us they were?

... and is now telling us everything M&H have said is true simply because they say it is?

Yes, that's the same one.

Are you going anywhere with this?

He is an arrogant ****.

Let's not forget his racist interview with Dizzee Rascal:

He's just like a male version of Katie Hopkins, hopefully he will crawl into a drain somewhere, just like she did, never to be seen again.

Everyone can calm down: Sharon Osborne says Piers isn’t a racist...

Not a racist!

I assumed the countryside comment was aimed at the suggestion of 5 minutes with him and a baseball bat. Is it not the technical term for murdering the likes of him, Clarkson et al..

Until I read this Newsweek piece yesterday I didn’t know about Morgan and Markel’s previous meeting which seems to have triggered his ridiculous obsession with Megan.

He’s a very sad little man.

He’s a very sad little man.

He's pretty portly actually. Definitely carrying a bit of timber.

So his problem is that he didn't get to give the ferret a run when he thought he might be in with a chance of pulling her....

Sounds about right to me - fits the 'late middle aged prick who has got where he is by bullying and bluffing so reckons he is a bit of a player' mould pretty well, I would say.

Blimey, Piers has been walking around London a lot today. I'm sure he walks around London a lot though, he's a fitness freak for sure. He has a bit more time on his hands today admittedly but is a very keen walker.

Yes, he walks a lot.

Met at least one admiring fan which must have embarrassed him massively.

He went for another walk afterwards to get over the embarrassment before going for a recovery walk.

The Spectator, you say? A Daily Heil for those who look down on the Heil. I suspect he didn't say we should treat everything Beeching said as true any more than he did "M&H".

Sounds better at the golf club, dear boy. I mean we 'need' those types who think a shirt and tie under a leather jacket is a good look, but we wouldn't want them actually at the golf club...

I think he’d be pleased to know that most of the posters on STW don’t like him! 😀

I’d heard that they’d got 40k+ complaints...

That’s got to be a record right?

A good collection of spats between Piers and Dan Walker from the Poke:

"Don’t worry... I’ll sort you an interview. Just bring an Arsenal shirt and a reference from any job you haven’t been sacked from"

I like the fact than Dan Walker likes running rings around the fat bully, but that Twitter exchange stuff just made me think....

This burns!

Oh, and my desire for five minutes with Morgan and a baseball bat isn’t connected in any way to countryside, merely a chance to leave him a bit bruised!
Although the ‘countryside’ comment does make me laugh!

This burns!

It doesn't really. It is entirely accurate, justified and quite well done, but it is just attention for him.

This really is life by panto audience participation technique...

Oh yes it is.

The baddy comes on, everyone boos. The goody comes on, everyone cheers. The sheer predictable safety of it all distracts from the core truth. There is no plot, the actors can't act and it is just an exercise is getting people to part with cash for a bray and a laugh. But everyone loves a bit of panto and everyone remembers the bit where the wicked witch sprayed water over the front row. Oh how we laughed.

Outside the theatre the police were breaking up a protest rally with excessive force, but those inside weren't aware of it.

Panto baddie is quite accurate actually.

In reality he's clever, perceptive and sometimes even charming, but he sort-of plays the character of an oafish, obnoxious bellend as his job (on screen and on social media).

OK, he doesn't have to try too hard, and he might be a sociopathic narcissist, but he can be quite good when he wants to be.

Anyway, I saw Popbitch reported that the unusual speed with which ITV confirmed his departure was possibly related to him telling someone senior there to **** off following his little tantrum.

10 minutes later the interview is over with nothing gained as only one question was asked and was never going to be answered. A good political interviewer would have moved on rather than waste the 10 minutes.

Maybe but then you end up with Marr who just gives an opportunity for Tories to blether on about whatever they want for the entire time without being obliged to answer anything.
