Why does nobody! (and by that - I mean mountain bikers and roadies) seem to be sticking to the one hour allocated time of exercise per day set out by the UK government? Is it sticking up two fingers in their face? Thinking you, or we are all too good for that? Every time I check my strava it has rides 2-3 hours plus.
Asking for a friend.
Troll.
Also people are going more than 2km away from their house? Asking for a troll 🙂
Tell your friend to mind their own ****ing business
All my neighbours are very well behaved so I need to travel further and be out longer so I can find people to snitch on.
It’s a very fair question.
Also we need to talk about compulsory feeding of asparagus for breakfast - it’s just not being enforced. Why have a policy if you’re not going to make people stick to it.
Please make it stop
1/10
etc.
The fact you're talking in km and we're in the UK should tell you that you're talking bullshit.
But in order to make you happy, filmed in under an hour and within 2km of my house.
I'm banking my daily so I can go for a 12 hour ride.
One hour of exercise - is that in the Mail or Telegraph?
Is it a minimum time requirement?
Do we all have to be on Strava?
Needs a roadsign.....
Ask your friend to point to the bit in the legislation, where it states that exercise is limited to one hour per day.
We'll wait patiently...
Or maybe not a Troll. I've been doing the minimum from the door but to be honest with mixed messages now coming from the knoblets in charge it's pretty confusing what's allowed. One hour limit was never explicitly stated, but agree is sensible. If we can now drive as long as the exercise is a longer duration that opens the doors for approx 10 million people to drive to the hills as long as they go for a meaty long walk.
The local farmers and nimby's have put notices on the gates accessing the fells out of my backdoor to tell people not to go through...but they're not the landowners, so is that right? hmmm- have been avoiding down to respect and politeness for their wishes but there'll come a point when this goes on through the summer weather that they might just have to stuff it...these fells are just about the most isolated place anyone could be in England, I'll strap some free sanitiser to the gate.
Can anyone tell me. Is the Lakes still closed? - Funny as I see lots of locals on Strava hitting up the mountaintops, 4/5 hour Lakes road tours, photos from walkers from the summits.
Some clearer guidelines will be needed soon methinks.
We could go for a ride whilst they are finding the legislation that states the hour...it will mean we are out for (much) longer than 1 hour though.

On the basis that it's a troll, the odds of the OP ever posting on the thread again are somehwere between slim and none.
Ive said that not so he'll pop up and double down on his oppinion.

You know the bit where I said 'asking for a troll'? That was kind of a clue [rolls eyes etc]
Nice bluebells though 🙂
When did the government say a max of 1hr?
Out before the lock.gif
Who was it who said 'STW threads repeat themselves, the first as tragedy. The second as farce?'
Cause rules don’t apply to cyclists innit !
When did the government say a max of 1hr?
I believe it was an off-the-cuff remark by Michael Gove in an interview, not in the official guidance. Ignore, and carry on!
See, also, the old 'drink x litres of water a day' comment..

Take your Marxism off to the Kier Starmer thread.

I’m in Ireland so it’s different here,
We have a 2km radius limit , but we can stay out longer than an hour (but boredom sets in quickly).
Guidelines over there for you is one hour outdoor exercise a day, although you don’t have the radius limit. I fail to see how people are doing 60 and 80km spins in one hour!
Just nobody seems to be taking things seriously over there at all. I have friends who are nurses in England and it’s sad hearing them talk about their work at the moment.

Nope. You are very wrong.
THERE IS NO ONE HOUR LIMIT!
95%

Whilst this thread clearly has a dollop of troll about it, it 'could' be useful.
Are you able to link to anything that actually confirms this as an actual thing? I have failed to find anything that says this. Clearly we have all heard something along these lines from somewhere but I have no idea where it originated from.
Personally not really clock watching by my rides are not straying as far from home as normal. I do see friends on strava continuing to do 120 mile out and back routes that does seem to me a bit daft.
I don’t have Strava or a watch and I leave my phone at home so nobody bothers me so how am I meant to know 🤷🏻♂️

I take it back about the trolling, he appears to be serious!
Low quality shaming tho, pls try harder.
Clearly some people (MichaelmCc) need to get out more..

Sundial top cap. I'm going to invent it now. Might need a rubber gnomon to reduce the injury hazard..
Put me down for two please eddiebaby
Yoo'll need a steel frame bike so you can magnetise it and then swing it from a handy tree to find north.
Also I'll need to know at what latitude you'll mostly be riding.
I'm thinking of adding a Timberbell mount to it.
seriously though...I'm looking at a 700m high fell out of my window, its near the Lakes but not in the NP, I can ride to the top in 45mins on a good path with arguably less risk than going out on the road. I'd be up and down just over an hour. There is rarely a sole up there as the locals are mostly valley-dwellers. I haven't been up since lockdown but the suns shining and it's calling to me...but I'm a mug that sticks within the rules (Scandinavian Heritage thanks).
So is this legit or not? - It's really not that clear. (locals have put signs up saying no access but it's not Foot and Mouth is it?)
56.7 degrees north
I am back dating my hours to 1995 as is allowed by HMRC.
Guidelines over there for you is one hour outdoor exercise a day,
There really, really isn't anything in the written government or NHS guidelines - or the legislation - that has a one hour limit.
We keep checking, but it's still not there.
Stop checking Strava then OP or forward picture of your feed to the Daily Mail or something

He last posted 48 mins ago, I hope he is nearly home or putting his bike or walking shoes away by now.
There is rarely a sole up there
Cobblers.
The one hour myth came from some off the cuff remark by Michael Gove. It's not reflected in the guidelines let alone in law, it's just made up shit. As is most of what Gove says tbf.

Maybe you’re not talking about the same plaice?

edited...I should learn how to spell proper. Obv's.
