Jason said that that was all cool and everything, but his grandfather smoked, like, 30 cigarettes a day and lived until 97 - so don’t believe everything you read about meta analyses of sound studies showing proven causal relationships.

:-))

Dunno why you're picking on Em, she seems nice.

Like the poster. There's a few different sizes on the originating website. http://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/poster

This is the best book on logical fallacies for the uninitiated.

Can I ask a bimbo question?

Who exactly are the Big Hitters?

and who are the 'wannabees'?

It's late, cocoa nearly finished. 😉

"How to win every argument". Jebus, that'd be a nightmare. There are some very, very strange people in the world who have to always be right.

Someone who will argue you into the ground whether they are right ir not. Try saying you like Thatcher and someone will grind you down with northern bitterness.

It's meant to be toungue in cheek, but imagine a worse nightmare where people believe a load of bollocks because they can't/wont use rational thought. There are some very, very strange people in the world who have closed minds that no amount of reason will open.

Puts me in mind of a quote by Louis XIV

Only small minds want always to be right

Was it the writing or FW himself that left you cold?

PJ O'Rourke makes me froth at the mouth with righteous left wing indignation, but I still laugh like a drain when reading him.
Same with Bron Waugh, tbh.

That FW book is v good. Ok it was essentially an anti Blair hit piece, but Blair was the master of bollocks. Should have been ejected at the earliest opportunity.

The "Burden of Proof" item is one which some on here need to repeat until understood, for example in the frequent big hittings about "god".

Whom I shall henceforth be referring to as "Fred"...
