I still see the impacts of the last outbreak 20 years on in folks involved in livestock farming.

Monkeypox is currently doubling every eight days if anyone is interested. UK is leading the charge, but plenty of other countries are following at the same rate. Unlike COVID, we already have a vaccine and we have treatments that might effective. Not that the treatments have been tested, they were approved under the "animal rule" against smallpox.
I wondered if the polio identification was a result of increased waste water monitoring thanks to COVID. Beckton is the largest treatment works in Europe.

According to the radio, the Polio "outbreak" is most likely the testing picking up the old style oral vaccination from someone not from the UK and there are currently no known cases?

It did. Back to worrying about victorian disease outbreaks.
The problem with the potential polio outbreak is lower than needed vaccination levels which is the result of lower take up amongst ethnic minority communities and middle class idiots who thought these disease had been consigned to history and have a non specific fear of vaccines because they don't understand them and have read some alternative life style rubbish blaming "chemicals" for all of life's woes.
