Using Gibson as a picture is inspired. He's not Scottish either. 🙂

Yeah?

Mel Colm-Cille Gerard Gibson, AO (born January 3, 1956) is an actor, film director, producer and screenwriter. Born in Peekskill, New York, Gibson moved with his parents to Sydney, Australia when he was 12 years old

Or did you mean the other fella?

Have any of you heard about, or seen the 'Braveheart' statue sitting in the carpark below the Wallace Monument in Stirling? It's Awesome. 😆

The story (as I heard it) goes that an artist created the statue, then had a hard time flogging it until he came upon the Sword Hotel, sadly now a housing estate, at the foot of the monument and managed to get them to buy it. Along comes the unveiling day, and there's our national hero, complete with the famous lines from the Declaration of Arbroath, standing sword raised in defiance! Yep, a perfect replica of Mel Gibson. It's brilliant, and makes me laugh every time I ride past it. Especially, as ironically it has to be kept behind bars to prevent vandals chucking paint etc at it.

If Scotland were ever to gain independence, can I come down and stay with you guys? 😆

Beautiful scenery, stunning weather. Beagleboy... if you live near Laggan we could do a life swap?

Do we get to vote on Scottish independence too? Surely as we actually subsidise them it should be up to us, not them?

Oh right, I see. He should go for a dirty protest, nothing grabs attention like smearing your own feces around the place.

Scotland pays for England (& Wales) it's a well known fact. Given Scotlands track record on all things financial it will be a better place with those south of the border.

Labour peer Lord Hattersley says the SNP have made gains because they are offering something "genuinely radical" - a real alternative on health and social care, and tuition fees, for example. He says this is the sort of political ground his party must work to recapture.
Roy, that "genuinely radical" something is called Socialism. Such a pity you've forgotten what that means.

Having the SNP returned to power is great, having them potentially gaining a working majority is even better, but the icing on the cake is coming on here and revel in a load of southerners whining away because they're stuck with the Tory government they voted for, and they're looking on while their social infrastructure gets dismantled for the benefit of private enterprise.

Thanks, hadn't realised we were letting reality get in the way of this thread's direction 🙂

Look on the bright side, at least we dished out a spanking to the Lib Dems for you - it will help ease them in gently to the outcome of the next General Election. As the night went on, it was getting embarrassing as they started to lose more deposits than the investors at Lehmann Brothers.

I like the pictures of the newly elected SNP man who turned up to the count in jeans & t-shirt - never thinking for a moment that he would get in!

The only midge in the ointment so far, is that Annabel Goldie, thanks to PR, has managed to crawl back in. I guess that you won't hear Call Me Dave discussing how PR saved the leader of the Scottish Tories however!

Role on the final result & an SNP outright majority!!

p.s. I preferred Rob Roy to Braveheart - can we have pictures of our other famous Scotsman - Liam Neeson please?

We'll take Cumbria and Northumberland, but you can keep Newcastle, Manchester and Sheffield - we already have Glasgow to contend with.

Most English people I've argued with about Scottish independence say that the south of England subsidies Scotland. I can never understand why they are against independence if all we do north of the border is sponge of them and mis-spend their hard earned taxes.

It's a brilliant result for democracy.

The pot is being brought to the boil, and whingeing southerners can breathe a sigh of relief - you won't be "subsidising" us for much longer. 🙂
