Thanks guys appreciate all the input we only live once so are looking forward to it either way! There's loads of great ideas and will definitely try a few of your ideas and bear others in mind! Whilst getting drunk and overlooking the madness we will enjoy the break and all other shenanigans!

It depends what you want from the town, why go if you are not going to enjoy it?

Seems to me from your post that what you want is a stop-gap hotel and all you do is use it as a layover. Hardly a ringing endorsement?

Don't do what I did 10 years ago and went to Vegas for the weekend from Birmingham (or was it Manchester?). Great weekend but God, a long way to go for a weekend.
