Mountain buggy elite is what we have and it's great. The current version is called the urban jungle. Mind you, it's large... takes up a lot of boot space and is also quite big when pushing indoors.

We've had two 'Out n About' three wheelers - 16" wheels with a fixed front wheel, so you can lift the back and use it as a wheel barrow. They don't seem to do it anymore though. It's great if you can find one/something similar.

The Chariot Cougar with 3rd wheel is awesome but not cheap. My wee one loves hers. We've been up the likes of Craigower without any fuss. It's a bike trailer but much more versatile. If you can afford it, you won't regret it.

The mountain buggy is HUGE when folded. The Nipper 360 is light and folds down pretty small. And a fraction of the price of a mountain buggy.

Thanks-mountain buggy is now owned by phil & teds (ahhh...grrrr!)
I really need a buggy for walking my dog and id like to attend a buggyfit class... So a back of the bike gadget wont work, thanks.
My current phil & teds vibe cant seem to cope with pavement nevermind off road.
Apparently its a 'common' problem with a phil & ted that the front wheel vibrates, sometimes so much it looks like its about to fall off. We've cleaned & regreased the front wheel and part it inserts into with no improvement. Phil & teds dont reply to emails & ive been reading some terrible slates on their aftersales service.
Im now thinking of trashing the very expensive phil & teds for another buggy but dont want to make the same mistake twice... We read so sooo many reviews before buying the p&t vibe and nothing bad was found apart from raving reviews.. So frustrating to do research on something and still end up with a good looking but dysfunctional piece of
junk ;-(

Look on ebay for a landrover three wheeler.

Chariot is the best thing ever, but expensive.

the point the person above is making is that the chariot bike trailers (or the croozer one if you're not made of money ), aren't just back of the bike things- the croozer has a big three wheeler setup for running, plus a smaller front wheel for just popping around shops or whatever, in addition to the bike attachment. The chariot even has a ski attachment available.

The croozer at least isn't massively different in price to the other buggies listed here, and is pretty good for running / walking with (probably way better than anything that isn't intended as a running buggy) , but you get a free very good bike trailer too.

Quite big when folded though, that's the only real disadvantage I can see.

To be honest I find a backpack much better for any kind of off road walking. Buggies are heavy and often pretty wide. My sprog loves being high up too and relishes people talking to him and being able to smack dad across the back of the head.

Try Macpac

We have a Mountain Buggy Terrain in the garage which doesn't get much use since number 2 came along. We talked about selling it a while ago but I've not got round to it yet, email me (in profile) if you're interested.

It has a fixed wheel so good for off road, and it's the hammock style seat (discontinued) which is (IMO) far better for off road (that's why I got that particular model). We have some extra bits too, and are on the Hampshire/Berkshire border so if you want to take a look might be close enough.

You would be shocked at where I take my 6 year old on the tagalong when I can't get a baby sitter!
