I actually looked into it, car lifts are actually far cheaper than doubling the floor area.
Although in this case where he appears to have a garage downstairs for several cars, and the lift is just to display them on the 1st floor, you're right.

Sweat from the turbo sessions is going to stain that floor.
We're looking at putting in a 2-post lift into our garage, decent kit starts at £1500 new.
It's putting down the concrete base (old barn with mud floor) that's going to cost though.

Surely a better option would be to park the car in the centre and have workbenches round the side, there's not room to lie on the floor and get under from the side like that?
That said, if I had the money I'd rather have a double garage sized workshop with pit/lift, and a separate garage to actually keep the car in.

The obvious solution seems to be buy a Porsche based on all the examples in this thread :-p
Everything at the back, so no need to ever go under the sides anyway!
