The fight against clothes line bans

Morons....

Frank Rathbun is spokesman for the Community Associations Institute, which represents tens of thousands of associations nationwide. Most of them do restrict the use of clothes lines, he says, but for good reason.

"More often than not, the rules governing associations were put in place by developers and builders when the communities were being built."

"In most cases, the decision is based largely on community aesthetics. Developers and builders are trying to sell homes, and I think most would tell you that clotheslines could detract from the overall appearance and kerb appeal of the community, and therefore sales."

"Regardless of the issue, appearance and kerb appeal have a direct impact on property values and the sale of properties. I think it's safe to say that most associations have kept these rules in place for those very reasons."

I'm not quite sure estate agents making a few more bob is a good reason, but there you go...

Not the only people - friends of mine had a flat in Birmingham, they were not permitted a clothes line - or to have clothes hanging in the window so that they could be seen from other flats โ“

There's a simple answer. Shoot the people responsible for the rules either because they created them, or created the 'need' for them. The human race really does have some bizarre notions of what matters in the world some times...

Clothesline bans are ridiculous in a society that purportedly places so much value on the environment.

I know! It's a conspiracy by big business to hog all the wind and sun for their green energy projects... ๐Ÿ™‚

Ahh some more STW xenophobia ๐Ÿ™„

There are similar rules in areas of the UK too.

That's Dr Zokes to you ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm not xenophobic at all. The 'phobic' bit would mean that I'm afraid. Anyone so monumentally skewed to come up with rules like that doesn't deserve fear, regardless of country of origin.

Well here's some more STW xenophobia for you. How about this for another crazy Yankie notion, some US states ban the sale and purchase of dildos.

Yup that's right, under the "penal code" (I kid you not) of some states, you are not allowed to buy a dildo.

You can buy a gun to kill someone - no problem there, but not an artificial penis which is "primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs."

Only in America........

Only in America........

Ahem....

European Union to ban Sex Toys.

Although it would appear to be only the environmental effect of dumping PVC that winds the Eurocrats up, not the sexual aspect.

I'm sure this says something very profound about the differences between Europeans and Americans, but a pithy phrase to encapsulate the situation eludes me at present.

There are similar rules in areas of the UK too.

Where?
Britain would never have got through the Depression/Blitz/Power Cuts/Miner's Strike etc without a damn good seeing to with artificial genitalia!

See what happens when the Tories get in?

So not because they are "primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs" then ?

Let me know which is the first EU country to ban the sale of dildos and, allow the the sale of guns Spanner.
Until then, I'll keep saying "only in America".

Nice little UKIP propaganda story btw,

I never said it was Ernie. ๐Ÿ™„

And I don't support UKIP.

I was merely pointing out the fact that both Europe and PARTS of America have considered similar legislation, but for different reasons, reasons which may give us an insight into the general morality and mindset of said regions.

Was meant to be tongue in cheek, but it's a bit late.
And yes, I'm fully aware that LHS's comment referred to clotheslines, not sex toys. As I said, it's late.

You're a proper little ray of sunshine lately aren't you? ๐Ÿ˜

But they haven't.

No EU country has considered banning dildos. And "PARTS of America" have gone way beyond "considering" the legislation........it is very clearly illegal to buy or sell dildos in some US states. Despite the fact that buying a gun in case you need to kill someone, is a constitutional right. There is no constitutional right to stimulate your own genital organs.

No matter how you try to spin it Spanner, there is absolutely no comparison between the situations in the US and the EU.

i know of flats in that london's famous london where inhabitants are banned from drying clothes on their balcony / positioning a tv aerial so that you can see it from the street.

my Gf's mum works for the company that built them

it is lots of fun to mock America for being stupid, but it turns out that we're just as stupid.

Ernie, if you need to use a spanner with one, I think you're doing it wrong.

deeds of our house specify no clothes line other than a rotary thingy

I do feel this is infringing my right to auto-erotic asphyxiation as there's no clothes line around - any lawyers on here ?

as for dildos, pretty much free to do as I see fit just as ernie suggested
