😳 yes, I did exactly that in a holiday rental. Haverfordwest Tesco do a nice line in one for all replacement remote controls 8)

Friend of mine once had a huge square candle on top of his TV back in the days of CRT. He was sat watching a film one night when the candle gradually but quickly disappeared into the hole it had just melted through the top of the box. I don't remember if it was the candle/wax that killed it or whichever fire-extinguishing solution he was forced to send into the hole after the massive burning candle.
Only cups/plates are allowed on stove tops, even when it's cold. It's a good habit, I reckon.
A good habit would be only stove top fans and kettles/pots go atop the stove.
I once melted an Xbox controller on a candle. It was on a cluttered coffee table - I was sitting next to it, but was a few minutes before I noticed the smell.
I think it still mostly works, except for the buttons on the back.
Cant you melt it down further, glue it to an old skateboard and then use it as a coffee tamper?
