Love facebook, great for keeping in touch with my family who are dotted around the world. Organising mtb rides, camping trips etc.

Great for really random things like, anyone know what I could use to make a deadmau5 head or anyone know of a barn for rent in Dorset, So & so got dumped, anyone want a beer tonight? - get results every time.

Fully replaced email for 95% of the people I know. I am very strict on my friends list though.

If I didn't spend all day at work gawping at a computer screen I might be more inclined to take an interest in FB, but the last thing I want to do of an evening is spend even more time in front of any kind of computer...

My wife uses FB almost obsessively, but her family are all back home in Brazil so it keeps her in touch.

if it weren't for facebook, i'd not be sat in the alps running an adventure travel website (which also has a strong presence on FB)...

And there you have it! It's morphing into another marketing tool to increase google ratings and SEO placement.

well, not quite. an old classmate saw i was looking for a job, they had a job going. next day i was chatting to the owner, and was offered a job.

without FB (and my inane rambling about being jobless) my classmate wouldn't have known i was looking for a job, and i'd not have gotten approached.

It's a really good tool for various reasons. The only downside I get is that some of your less 'englightened' friends will see fit to tell the world how drunk they were/ how their not racist but../commentate on current affairs (Cheryl Cole's love life/Tories doing some tory stuff).
Other than that it's great. I'm not one of those that's scared of people seeing my face or what I say (which might a concern for some but you can set privacy accordingly).

"I've got Brazilian friends on Facebook."

"Wow, that's amazing, I've only got a couple of hundred."

(Coat please...)

I know some people (who I actually like) that pretty much treat Facebook as the Internet. They don't bother checking email anymore so sending a message on Facebook is often a good way of getting in touch.

There's quite a lot that could be better about it, but for those not so technically inclined it's a easy way to share photos, vids, links etc.
