I'v had my 5800 for a fair few months now and yesterday the slider on the side broke. Apparently from the main board. I took it back to car phone whorehouse and I was told because its the case its not covered by the warranty.! The phone is immaculate.

£65 to fix a bloody button.

£65 FFS.!

After much google mooching I found this...mykeylock

Unlock your phone by plugging in the head phones, go into phone managment and disable the auto lock and download the app onto your phone. The app will need signing first.
Install.

Hey presto 65 holes more to spend on bike bits and ale.

Still should be fixed under warranty though.
Ignore what carphone whorehouse tells you and dig your heals in.

I argued the point and the answer was no. Nokia will not honour that part of the warranty as it could have been dropped ect... or words to that effect. I told the manager of the branch that as my contract was up for renewal in a few months they either fix it or I take my custom else where.

The answer was still no.

You can't beat good customer service.

My missus has one of these, she says if the phone is under a year old, your warranty is with Nokia, your airtime contract is with CW. So contact Nokia customer services or their warranty department direct. Her phone was taken with orange, and she does not have insurance thru orange, as Nokia provide the handset, she deals directly with Nokia repairs dept.

Hope that helps.

Just outside the customer service capital of the world that is Birmingham. My nearest repair centre is the fort.

Thanks for the app' tip.

I'd contact Nokia. Sure, the CarPhone ****house probably do get loads of chavs trying it on, but most probably take the shop oinks word as gospel.
