Better half bought one months ago with Zelda, played it to death for weeks, but I'd struggle to tell you when she last used it (no idea if she completed Zelda, probably did).

She bought Racing RMX to try and get me to use it, tbh it's quite a good anti-grav racer, very comparable to (and in some ways better than) Formula Fusion and Redout on the PC. I should play it more often, had a quick go the other night for the first time in ~2 months.

Rocket League is/has been released, which has cross-platform online multiplayer, which I play an awful lot on PC. Devs are finally cracking down on salty/abusive self-written (not taunts) text and audio, issuing bans of various length.

There are however, a few very odd choices by Nintendo which cripple its appeal, one of which is the complete lack of an internet browser. Yes, we often have other gadgets that can do this, but being able to do this on the Switch as a break from gaming (or simply as an interweb gadget while on holiday) would be far better IMO.

I've never got into the console gaming thing and the Switch hasn't helped convince me. Paying a few hundred squids to play a few games doesn't strike me as a good bang for the buck, a decent quality gaming PC may cost more but it's a far more versatile piece of technology.

Not bought one myself but from others I've heard the appeal soon where's off and you're left with Zelda (not great for replayability) and Mario Kart (you really need to be playing vs friends for it to have longevity)

Zelda (not great for replayability)

The average time to complete the game is 170hrs for average completionists, not exactly sure what more you can ask for.

True, but not a great comparison, can you play your "average gaming PC" on the tube, or on a plane, or even take it into a different room very easily?

Our kids have had one for about 8 months now. Still gets used a lot but mainly the younger ones 6,10 and 11. My two older teenage boys both use their gaming pcs.. The fact you can use the Switch on the move has been a real plus as it makes long journeys less tedious for the kids.

We've got one, and I think it's brilliant - being able to play on the TV or as a handheld is perfect for us. I particularly like how Nintendo hit the sweet spot for game style with the younger kids.

Although it doesn't get used all the time (it's got competition from a gaming PC and a 3DS). that said as the game library grows, so will it's % use.
Mario Rabbids is next on our list.
