"you're so cool"

If this went over your head you should be ashamed to call yourself a True Romance fan

And so the penny drops, to be fair I've not seen it for some time, mrs razoo is out tonight too and it looks like I'll be rushing through my tubeless conversion before settling down on the sofa with a beer and a pizza to re-educate myself.

Great shout. In fact, a Kurt Russell marathon would be good.

That's what Jack Burton always says.

White House Down is miles better than Olympus Has Fallen. It's not a complete spoof but doesn't take itself half as seriously. Top mindless action film IMO.

Of the above suggetions I'd go for Taxi Driver or The Deer Hunter.

On a similar recent occasion I watched Seven Samurai, unbelievable film, especially given that it was made in 1954. AT 3hrs 27mins though it's a long 'un!

How could I have forgotten to recommend "Big Trouble in Little China"? That's just classic cinema in a single sitting.

The Raid. It's like Dredd but better in every single way.

Paul or Ted. No need to feel guilty laughing out loud at all the bits you know you will get a "stare" over. Of the two Paul is by far the funnier.

Agree with the Whitehouse is down being better than Olympus has fallen. Neither is a good shout if you have little ones asleep upstairs and want the volume up a bit.

Heat.

A much overlooked cops-n-robbers movie from the 90s - DeNiro, Pacino and directed by Michael Mann.

[Edit] rene59 beat me to it 😕

Yes I know it's a Tom Cruise film but I quite like Collateral.

+1 for True Romance. Another underrated Christian Slater movie - Very Bad Things. Cameron Diaz at her finest too. Very dark comedy, bloody hilarious

Very Bad Things has to be one of the most unpleasant films I have ever had the displeasure of watching. There is nothing redeemable about it whatsoever, other than looking at Diaz.

I usually like that sort of film, but not that one.

Typically late to the party, but for me it has to be Get Carter.

Bloke movie? Shirley anything from the canon of work by Jason Statham ought to do it.
Otherwise, I'd be pulling out Kelly's Heroes, Where Eagles Dare or Guns of Navarone.
pew-pew-pew!

Anything with Faye Reagan or Stoya in.
Don't know if they did any 'art movies' together but that would probably be worth watching.

Rambo First Blood
(After that they just got plain silly)

Heat,
The gun fight in the street - first film we watched when the old man got a big plasma with surround sound. Stood in the middle of the room with the sound whacked right up, you could hear the empty bullet cases hitting the floor just behind you. Only ruined by my mother storming in telling us it was too loud !

Das boot has to be the best atmospheric film I have seen to date, and also rather good in it's own right, but based on a boys own night in I have just watched Statham in Humming bird, I thoroughly enjoyed it too!
