Try the Brooklyn Brewery. Friday night pee up in a brewery and order in pizza. That was a few years ago though so not sure they still do it, I have some beer tokens somewhere.

if you walk across the Brooklyn Bridge (recommended), watch out for those pesky cyclists. they don't like it if you get in their way and will run you down!!

Canal street is a lovely place for shopping and Little Italy is good for food! though watch out for very skilled pick pockets and theives!
