Morning all,
As above, my mum's aged tablet is about to give up the ghost so thinking now might be a good time to get a replacement in the sales. It's main use is for light web browsing and shopping, a bit of YouTube and also for WhatsApp as she has a tremor and it's much easier for her to use them her mobile. A reasonable camera would be nice too as she likes to send me photos of the cats and garden.
I'm thinking a Samsung as I get Blue Light discount for 10% but equally open to suggestions. Would like it to be 10" and perhaps from Currys as she would like to be able to try before I buy as it were. I have a dim recollection of I one being quite well received that started with an O perhaps but have slept since then and can't find the bookmark.

Wouldn't it make sense to get a newer version of what she has at the moment?

How are you using WhatsApp on a tablet? I thought it was linked to a phone number?? I ask as assume only some tablets can use WhatsApp so may limit choices?

Can run WhatsApp on more than one device linked to the same number. I have it on my phone, my tablet and this laptop.

As someone said, id get a newer version of what she already has, the same brand at least, so the migration over isn't too difficult for her.

What device/OS is the easiest for you to control remotely?

It's a tough call.. I changed my nans tablet from a cheap samsung to a 'cheap' apple at twice the cost..it's a much more responsive tablet, and a lot better, but it was £300 rather than £150ish.

The confusion of the different interfaces was to much for her though, she could never quite grasp it.

What device/OS is the easiest for you to control remotely?

It doesn't really matter.. you can install teamviewer or whatever on pretty much anything.

Thanks all.
Her phone is android and she's comfortable with that set up.
The current tablet is a 4 year old Honour which has been cranky for a while now and mum has said she doesn't want another one by them.
As mentioned above you can set up WhatsApp on several devices linked to the same mobile.
I didn't know that remote access was a thing for tablets and had never really thought about. A means to do that would be super helpful though when I get a phone call to saying that it's "being a nuisance again" 🤣

I wish my mum was as switched on as yours.

If Android, Samsung.

If Samsung, whatever your local CEX has is my advice. Good people ime.

You can get a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 WIFI - 64GB on Amazon for @169 if that’s in your budget?

Good call on having same brand and OS phone abd tablet. I've just been helping out MiL who was advised an Apple phone to go with her Android tablet - and gets very very confused....

This sounds interesting. Not heard of this. We have issues with @p20’s parents and tech at times, but they live 2.5 hours away. His late sister’s husband will pop round if needed, but it would be useful if we could help with tech issues more. We are about to take an old iPad up to them today, so might look at installing this first.
