[Closed] New laptop screen with an unusual fault.

Just fitted a replacement screen to my Lenovo x230 laptop and it has a fault I have never heard of before.

It seems to have a part number printed on it that is only visible once the screen is working.

I have tried cleaning it off but with no effect.

You can actually feel it when you run your finger over it.

Any suggestions about removing it? I would like to avoid having to return it, so if it can be fixed I would prefer that.

was it a thin peel off film that you've missed

Gosh, that's different.

Contact the supplier and see what they suggest. If you attempt an unsuccessful DIY repair / clean and are unsuccessful they might well refuse to replace it because you've damaged it.

Ah yes, good point. Every screen I've ever fitted came with a screen protector over the front that you're supposed to remove, though they've been loosely attached by masking tape rather than a peel-off type. However, I see no reason why that might not be the case.

Never thought it might be a screen protector.

I'll open it up and check.

craig and cougar - many thanks gents. It was a screen protector.

Normal service resumed!

The other screens I have replaced had protectors with the masking tape.

Still feel a bit of an idiot. Especially as I have sent an email and photos to the supplier! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

On the bright side, your email will probably be forwarded to everyone in tech support.
