Took delivery of an Asus n56vm today. It boots up OK, but once I put some music on and open a couple of windows it shuts down without warning (i.e. it switches off with no shutdown procedure). Am I doing something stupid, or is the power supply gubbed?

Hard to diagnose based on just that, but I'd be leaning towards a thermal cutout, heat sink not seated correctly. Could be a dozen things.
If you boot it and leave it alone, does it still cut out?

i had similar with a new toshiba bios update cured it
