I'm sure I have seen people quoting without the text size/font changing. So presumably they are not using the clear formatting button. Anyone know how that works?

You have to click on the flashing cursor at the left hand side of the text box, not just anywhere in the box.
Useful to have a testing area for all to try things out, but that wasn't the original idea of the thread.
Perhaps the forum Admin or Mods could create a sticky How to - Idiots guide.

Oh and I get all the buttons on Chrome PC but no useful indication of what you have selected or what has been selected

I see no buttons. Is this because of my obscure rarely-used platform (iPad with latest Safari on latest iOS)? 🙄 Apart from the preview button, which doesn’t do anything.

I’m beginning to wonder if you encounter the same issues in real life.
The quote is the “66” ^^ as in when taught at school “99/66” means quote.
And the small mountain scene in picture frame is quests what? A picture insert.. There are some small button when you have inserted the URL that allow editing before posting, and you should see a “ghost image” of what you are about to post.. also you can change the size of the image via the scale, just manually edit the size.
And the forums still going through its transition phase, so expect more “issues” to arise...

I'm holding out for one more day or so on an update then creating a petition to get our old but reasonably stable forum back. ;d

If thats the case then I suspect that the JavaScript isn't being loaded for you. When you click the preview button it will append your reply as the last reply and be highlighted in a pale yellow. (So the preview is just above the editor box)

I think it's a piece of junk. Why wasn't it tested first?
Anyhow, it seems you can actually post an image, but you can't then go back and edit it. Or something. Who knows.
EDIT: and what's with the giant font size for quoted text?

Same hear, on chrome with android phone. Just a box to type into. There's a preview tab a box for tags and submit, thats all I have.
What about emojis?
I don’t have the bar either and the preview button does not work. Do any of the mods know why some people are seeing this while others aren’t. Singletrack forum isn’t run by wileyfox now is it?
At least the really useful "skip to top" button still works..

In the spirit of the thread title -
The Quote button is the 2 speechmarks in the grey bar above the posting box.
Paste the text you wanna quote, then select it. If you are using a tablet or phone, put this in the nearest drawer and forget about using it for anything fancy on this forum. Once you have selected the text, hit the "eraser" button. It's like a diagonal rectangle up on that bar. Then hit the Quote button.

Post an image , same as the old way, just put [ img] [/img ] around the image url or use that button that looks like a mountain.
Post a video - simplest of all! Copy the video URL and paste it. Video will appear!
By the way, there never were buttons for uploading videos or images, you have to upload em somewhere else and link em here.

Copy text, paste, highlight the text, use the “eraser” button, second from the right to clear the formatting, then with the text still highlighted, press the quote button

Worked on around my 5th attempt.
Just to say a method to quote text that includes more steps than the last one is not a good solution, I hope that is still on the bug list.
I neither need to highlight the text or click the eraser button. Just click the quotation marks at the end of the line that's the quote. Then double return.

I wish people would stop saying stuff like this. I'll shout it, ON MY PHONE THERE IS NO GREY BAR WITH SPEECHMARKS OR ANYTHING !!
