My little Princess Maya arrived last night! She was so tired after her journey she slept well. Here's a couple of pictures from this morning.

She's a one year old Berger Blanc Suisse. She's a lovely gentle calm girl. She's also very playful, and very fast.

I can join in again with the dog threads!!! Yay! ๐Ÿ™‚

@freeridenick - Lots of info' on them here.... Berger Blanc Suisse

I'd never heard of them until a few months ago. Then I met one, really liked it, and decided to find out more.

Basically they are a white German Shepherd dog, and they were used so that the farmers could distinguish them from wolves. They share all the best traits of a German Shepherd dog.

@yoshimi - Why can't you have a dog?

@dogbert - Great dog. Snappy dresser too! ๐Ÿ™‚

Beautiful bitch, really stunning. Swiss White Mountain.

Do you know much about the temperament ? I am genuinely curious. Reason I ask is the Swiss Germans from Graubunden region have a tendency to own very lovely looking dogs which are rather grumpy shall we say. I spend quite a lot of time there and I've had to break my habit, as a dog owner, of greating other dogs/owners as I'm often snapped at.

That's a beautiful dog! A new breed to me too!

Will she be a trail dog?

We picked up our first dog last weekend - a stunning 2 year-old German Shorthaired Pointer bitch called Misty. Since she moved in, all she's known is snow, so I reckon she thinks she's moved to the Arctic or something!

TBH German Shepherds aren't my favourite, but your new hound scores big points for a having a face that looks a bit like a retriever's in the first pic. ๐Ÿ˜€
good to see you've got back in, and i'm sure you'll give her a good home.
best of luck.

Thanks very much everyone. Princess Maya is doing well. She really is a lovely girl, and very smart too. I'm just amazed at how well she has settled in in three days.

@geoffi - The bear dog, the mighty Rex is sadly no longer with us. He developed a heart problem in November. Full story here. Don't read it if you cry easily. That big old boy left a hole that was impossible to fill.

SB - she is beautiful! What stunning dog.

Really pleased for you. Although you must still really miss Rex, we all have space in our hearts for another dog.

Have loads of fun with her ๐Ÿ™‚
