[Closed] Netflix - Suggestions

I've only just started on Netflix myself, having been laid up ill.

Just getting to the end of Narcos series 1, which is very good.

Mindhunter is an excellent series with a crime theme

Mindhunters, directed by David Fincher (Se7en). Soooo good!

I'm currently enjoying Mindhunter and Better call Saul.

Making a murderer is worth a watch.

Oh, and of course topically, Stranger Things.

If you're after a crime drama:

Ozark.

Get past the first episode and Star Trek Discovery is pretty good.

Bit old now but Person of Interest

If you haven't watched peaky blinders series 1 and 2 are on Netflix. Same for Luther. You've probably already seen them though. Orphan black recommendation is good too.

Suits is quite watchable.
Homeland, stranger things, narcos are all good

Person of Interest was fantastic. Really ended up in a totally different place to how the show started.

Mindhunter and stranger things, as said above.

Backstrom, detective show - enjoying that.
Narcos, true crime - based on the life of Pablo Escobar.
Black - Korean supernatural/cop series - subtitled and very complex, takes about 3 episodes before it starts to make sense.
Sherlock - BBC series with Benedict Cumberpatch

Narcos, stranger things & trek for me.
Suits, Bitten (trash, but eyecandy), and some royal thing about mary queen of scots (Regal maybe?) for shared viewing (is that what young people refer to as 'and chill'?)

Netflix is rubbish for films and will be getting even worse in future. The company decided that they'd rather create their own content than buy the rights to movies from other studios. The creation of new original content is also the reason they've given for increasing the monthly subscription.

Icarus for a documentary

Best I've seen in ages

and made Netflix so much the better for it, before it was been to DVD years n years before movies, now at least it is more original content.

Are my must watch series on it that the moment.

I'm still going with Killjoys as a recommendation, as I think its a bit underrated.

Currently watching Limitless. If you've ever watch the film then its a great tie-in with that.

That's because it's become a studio itself. If you think by dropping Transformers and replacing with the likes of 1922 and Gerald's Game - is evidence of it getting worse then it's unlikely you and I are going to agree on what constitutes a recommendation.

What can't I get in to stranger things? 1.5 episodes in and had enough.

House of Cards (even though the main start is a nonce) is well worth watching.

A bit of a random one is Rita - a Danish version of Teachers. I really love it and can’t wait for season 4.

Also - Norsemen is funny. And another vote for Suits here - very watchable.

Good timing, I've just binned NowTV (no dragons & boobs for a while) and started up Netflix.

Already watched Stranger Things, into Star Trek Discovery now.

Will put Orphan Black and Narcos on the list.

What can't I get in to stranger things? 1.5 episodes in and had enough.

Because it's a huge nostalgia circle jerk, combining elements familiar to anyone born before 1983; with some seriously wooden acting (Yes, you, Winona) and one of the thinnest plot lines in contemporary drama.

I'm not sure if it's on Netflix but we're halfway through the second series of The Leftovers and it's bloody brilliant.

Not crime but The Expanse is ace.

Also get bingeing on Peaky Blinders as series 4 starts on 15th Nov. Series 3 isn't on Netflix but you can get it on iPlayer atm as they are putting it on again.

best thing on Netflix by miles is Master of None. but its neither a documentary nor a crime drama...

Unbroken, four guys riding mustangs from Mexican border to Canadian border. Watch it for the scenery, but some interesting discussion about the politics of conservation.

I didn't get into stranger things either. Stalled on iron fist too, would defenders make sense if I don't finish it? I keep holding off (plus I'm still binging peakyblinders)

Nobody mentioned my current obsession - Terrace House. It's a sort of Japanese Big Brother-style reaity TV, but unlike BB, where the residents are generally hideous chavs getting drunk and trying to mount each other, the residents of Terrace House (in fact a luxury villa on Hawaii) are people you'd be happy for your mother to meet, and relationships proceed at a snail's pace. That's sort of the attraction of the show - mostly nothing happens!

Documentary- Valley Uprising +1
Crime series- Enjoyed Queen of the South and Spotless. I gave up on Ozark.
