I don’t know if anyone has mentioned Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat in this thread yet but if you like food and cooking it’s very good indeed. Just a four-parter presenter by a lovely American chef who has a really interesting background.

Sweet will give Counterpart a go next. The Ex-pants was cancelled but another network took it up, I think the new season is later this year.

Apparently 'Prime' has picked up Season 4 of The Expanse - should be out later this year after Syfi cancelled it !

Been stuck in bed with a back injury, binge watched S2 of Counterpart and Russian Doll, which is a bit Groundhog Dayish, woman dies in an accident on her birthday but keeps coming back to life, reliving the birthday party, and then dying again in a different accident until she can figure out why it's happening. Gonna give Nightflyers a try next.

Due to hoodoo mentioning “Travelers” finishing properly end of series 3,I took the plunge.... my ironing pile has been whittled away exponentially.only 6 episodes to go!
Also, the Horrid Henry movie is getting a lot of love in our house. 🙁

I thought Polar was OK, it's OTT and the assassin characters are dire but overall quite enjoyed watching it.

Watching the second series of Star Trek Discovery has just reminded how much I hate the Netflix grain effect you see in a lot of the 4K/HDR stuff. There seems to be debate on whether it's due to compression, the original filming or a post-production effect, if the latter then whoever came up with it needs burying alive - I can understand it could add something to a certain type of film but in something like Discovery on the ship which is supposed to be all clean and modern/sharp it's just distracting. I hate it in the Marvel series stuff to but more because in a lot of dark scenes it becomes very noticeable to.

I'm enjoying Limitless at the moment, although I find it a bit distracting that the same actors crop up in several different series and basically play the same character (see Limitless and Dexter, also The Wire and Bosch).

Discovery season 1, was also mostly excellent.

We've just finished "The Alienist" and enjoyed it, watched "You" before that.

Also recommended (apologies if already mentioned!):
Bloodline
River
Safe
The Sinner

It certainly was. Didn't even need to try episode 2 to confirm it either.

I Watched that new Netflix production with Jake Gyllenhaal, Zawe Ashton, Rene Russo.. etc! in it "Velvet Buzzsaw"...
It's one of those films that seems a bit light and fluffy and pointless when you're watching (I suppose it's some kind of satire on the art industry) but some of the scenes and images have stayed with me, so I think it's worth a watch. Or maybe not. Hmm.

And will everyone please watch Suburra: Blood on Rome so that they make another series. Ta.

Yeah. Suburra is good. Gomorrah is at least as good for a Naples based hit of Italian crime.

Abducted In Plain Sight.

Documentary about how a sexual predator finagled his way into a family. Avoid any info about it for best results.

I'm currently up to episode 10 of Nightflyers and keep thinking to myself this is utter shit. But I'm at the point now that I've got to keep watching to see what happens.

I watched all of suburra series one, but only as a poor substitute for more Gomorrah - which is one of the best TV series of recent years IMO.

There's a new series of Suburra coming soon I believe Dez

I watched Velvet Buzzsaw too, quite liked it.

Good news, cheers

Try taking prescription painkillers and then just relaxing into it.

Ran out of painkillers and tried Nightflyers. Made it halfway through ep 1 and bailed, just seemed like someone got the Big Book of Movie Cliches and set out to cram every single one into the first episode.

Border Town and the Break are both really good dark foreign thrillers and second seasons have already been added.

Another two with single seasons are Borderliner and Deadwind. I was a big fan of the bridge and all of these are right up my alley.

Abducted in Plain Sight is genuine jaw on the floor TV. There were so many points in the story where I thought this can't get any weirder, but it did. Far stranger than any Netflix box set drama, and a salutary lesson about how people can be manipulated by a predator.

Not Netflix but Amazon, and seeing as there is not enough good content for Prime to have its own thread I thought I would recommend this one here.

Last Man on Earth. Short 20 minute episodes, very funny.

Was on Dave over the past few years. Don't get into it, cos they just kill it off and don't commission the concluding series. Quite annoying. Bit like the main character, really.

+ Sky Atlantic. Great series - the catchup with their backgrounds was sooo good (and cleverly timelined (if that makes sense!)).
Couldn't help but think clickbait headline: "What Alabama Worley looks like now will shock you!" She is superb though.

Now Vikings has finished for the year am forced to persevere with Nightflyers. Has picked up at episode 6 when they find the stranded ship. The cast seem more relaxed and less wooden.

Still not desperate enough to go back to 'STD'. Also watched The Imitation Game for the first time, excellent film.

Umbrella Academy is a great series, superheroes with some dark humour as well. Has a Coen brothers feel. Already been signed up for a second series.

Not Netflix but Amazon, they have all 8(?) seasons of Parks and Recreation, which if you are looking for something light in these somewhat dark days is just about perfect.

I'm ashamed to admit I'm enjoying 'How To Get Away With Murder'

It's ostensibly a series aimed at teenagers, despite all the teenagers being played by actors in their 30's. Lead character is a decent actor. Everytime I think I've had enough they thrown in a plot twist intriguing enough to make me watch the next couple of episodes.

Are we due more expanse or did it get cancelled?

Amazon have picked it up so I’m hoping they’ll follow through with the books. Needs a mahoosive budget to do it justice though.

Watched a good documentary on Netflix the other night - Behind the Curve

Its about all the flat-earthers in the states. Its staggering just how utterly mental these people are and how utterly determined they are to reject all scientific evidence in order to advocate their bonkers theories.

The bits showing them conducting their own 'scientific' experiments to prove the world is flat are absolute comedy gold!

Completely hatstand!
