Since most countries are heavily indebted, and it's causing widespread retrenchement and misery, why don't we have a Jubilee, where all debts are cancelled? After all, the money must be owed mostly to banks, which in turn are now mostly owned by the governments who bailed them out, so just scrap the banks and make some new ones.

But how much would the local authorities fork out on the street parties? Could end up costing more than wsa saved?
