So far this year I can't find any decent loose nuts.

Where ever I buy loose nuts they're pretty stale tasting and a bit dry.
How are your nuts this year and where you getting them from ?

*smug* I'm still making my way through the half-carrier bag full of hazelnuts I collected from the fields a few months back.

Admittedly they're not whoppers, but it's quantity not quality. ๐Ÿ™‚

War far the ones from Aldi.lidl,Waitrose and m&s have been a bit pants.

Not sure if they're just old or a poor crop this year.

Off to town later and I'll try Sainsbury's

I do like some nuts close at hand for Christmas, however I also tend to have some nearby most of the year.

It does seem price is up and quality is down this year.

Perhaps it hasn't been warm enough for them to grow to their full potential?

Ok, back from town and no nuts to be seen anywhere. What's going on?
I turned 40 this year and part of my middle age privilege was a Christmas with my nuts out. Now all I have is an empty sack with a couple of dry hazelnuts.

Thanks brexit.

Lidl have some very good fresh walnuts in the veg section.
A lot of supermarkets these days only bring the new crop out after xmas.

Hope you crack them with your teeth. Half the fun is playing 'is there a maggot in this one' roulette ๐Ÿ™‚

I live in the middle of the AOP for Noix de Grenoble: Think of champagne only comes from champagne, but we're talking about 'Noix de Grenoble' which are walnuts. This years crop from our 1 tree in the garden is very good thanks. Nom nom nom. I could nip to the farm and get a 25kg sack if you want?

Next door, (the farmers daughter) heats their house using walnut shells in their biomass boiler.
