[#2586269]

Well it's all coming to a end. Almost a year since i walked from Somerset to Dorset and around the coast of Cornwall. I've been it the land of the Scots for a long time now but on this coming Friday i make a rapid return back to Somerset to help out a mate, it's the least i can do for someone who stayed looking in the hills for me till the early hours, he's just become a father and i'm required to finish a renovation job for him, how i'll manage to work for more than 4 hrs a day, 5 days a week gawd knows..

A weekend therefore was spent with me being me, a bit of riding, some walking and a little camera time with a few hours repairing a roof, just because i can.

I'll not natter on in my usual manner to much more as sometimes photographs say it all.

Seen on the way to Spynie loch.

The simple things in life like frogs.

I'd laid down to photograph the frog and promptly put my elbow on some newly growing stinging nettles, as i looked at the patches of stung skin i spotted something familiar crawling up my arm. This one was lucky, with all the senseless killings in the world i looked at this tiny creature and thought, "what right have i to kill it?" "None!" was the answer to myself, so i let it go to live out it's short but significant role in life.

A dying industry?

Saturday night!

Maintaining a recent theme whilst out
[img] [/img]

Just gotta love nature in every way, even the root systems of some trees.
[img] [/img]

Blowing in the reeds..
[img] [/img]

End of days.
[img] [/img]

Just in time for the night time beasties.
[img] [/img]

As i rode back today along a fine forest track, a weasel crossed in front of me, to fast it was even with the small dead rodent in it's mouth, i couldn't get my camera out in time but the image is captured vividly with in my mind..

One life, one mind and one adventure. Time.... don't waste yours.

Sharki.

Thanks!

It was this thread or the one i was going to write about sweaty balls and questioning why.
I figured this one would look better with photo's than the other would.

Knowing me though i'll end up gawd know where, watching the Dortmund Ballet and it's men in tights even..

Lovely.

Are you sure it wasn't a stoat carrying the rabbit?

We've just returned from Scotland (yesterday). I miss it already.

I based my choosing of a weasel over the stoat based on it's slender body and lack of black tip on the tail. Also Stoats are often white during the winter so i'd of expected it to appear white or much lighter. Agreed though it may of been a Stoat.

They're very similar despite the main differences that make the weasel weasily recognised and the stoat, stoatly different.

That's great sharki. Enjoy all your adventures.

Good luck with that and with your writing. It's going to take time but it's inspiring stuff and I look forward to reading more.

That other thread idea? There is no why. Just ventilation or talcum powder.

awesome 😀 i wish you good fortune for the rest of your journey sharki.love the pictures (especially the frog ones). back in 2007 early spring/summer (i think?) i decided to go out on a night ride/twas a rainy night (i live in devizes wiltshire) i cycled to salisbury plain, then cut back to lavington and attempted to climb pear tree hill near earlstoke prison.anyhoo to cut a long story short,on the road i was spotting dead frogs/toads (had been run over unfortunately) i was getting pretty down with seeing them all squashed 🙁 as i returned home i spotted a frog crossing the road,so i stopped and helped it to where it wanted to go.i cycled back to the caen hill locks and started climbing the towpath.i just couldn't believe what i saw next though.there were literally thousands of frogs/toads chilling on the towpath (i had to get off my bike and carefully wend my way between them) twas frogtastic 😀

DO you know how to tell the difference between a stoat and a weasel?

A weasel is weaselly recognizable, while a stoat is stoatally different 😀

Yes, that's my coat, the sprayway goretex 😉

nice pics, enjoy your time helping friends, it can be very satisfactory knowing you've helped people.

…and Scotland has enjoyed the Sharki™ experience. I still haven’t found that link-pin you lost on Puke Hill, but I’ll keep looking, & someday much money will be saved 😉

Its been a great pleasure meeting you Sharki, thank you for opening my eyes to the wonders of nature through the exquisitiveness of your photography and for the many memories that put a smile on my face (leaping jelly babies for starters 😉 ) Missing you already you big eejit 🙁 . I hope you find the peace of mind that you are looking for and so rightfully deserve and I look forward to reading the rest of your blog and seeing more of your photos (hopefully in print, some day). Nice one Sharki, if you are near Sherborne pop in to see my mother in law for a cuppa and when we get our attic done you'll be top of the list for visiting. See if we can't ride past that barbed wire next time.

Nice pics and words. Hope that Somerset works out well and like we said, maybe we'll see each other if you're around this area.

On the other thread, it's just nature's cooling mechanism, keeping all the tiny sharki's as cool as possible 😉
