can anyone explain why my 13mnth old collie doesn't like it when I cook lamb? he runs away whenever I try to give him some and will not go in the kitchen while it's cooking even with the prospect of a treat?

It's possible you are right, but it's meat, MEAT i tell thee! he can't be frightened of meat; he's a dog FFS - it's kind of like finding out your son is a road biker!
