So, did they get the hook out then? I can't tell from that. I assume they did, judging by the way it swam off.

I'd be wary about handling an injured dogfish or smooth hound, a two metre shark is something I'd prefer to keep well away from!
If they could cut most of the line away from the hook and leader, eventually the hook will just corrode and drop free, the shark's own immune system will keep it free from any other issues.
