There now seems to be 2 types of licence and these total around £700 to allow shops to play music ❗
Worth it ❓
Do you know any shortcuts, like using "free" music off the net ❓
No way around it I'm afraid.
Shocking rip off.
And you also have to be very careful about what source your music is coming from. Proper CDs and the radio are all fine. iTunes, Spotify, downloaded mp3s are all illegal.
internet radio other than bbc?
john...given the difficult trading conditions my mate is currently experiencing it will be the difference between music or not come bill paying time. Some luxuries cannot be afforded, `tis either that or put prices up which just compounds the issue 🙄
You need a PPL licence, its calculated on the area of the shop itself as well as the type of premises (i.e. retail / offices etc). The only music you can play without the licence is royalty free, of which there are a few internet radio sites that provide but its not what you'd call ... popular ???
same rules apply - agree with its a rip offinternet radio other than bbc
thought so
also thought camglegg were going to do away with quangos and make things easier for business. Classic give & take ❗
