It is interesting that the negotiator regards the decision to surrender rather than fight as being an example of "manning up". Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid would not have agreed.

To be fair they're probably not dealing with Washington State Logician of the Year in there.
I'm guessing that the cops were not too sad that he chose not to MTFU and surrender, so they were "obliged" to off him there and then.
