I will be speaking to the kids about mothers day and if they want to do something for Lyanda as a remembrance. Going to be a tough one for them. Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions of something they could do? I can't think straight at all.

Been there done that. Celebrate all the good bits. Take them somewhere special she loved. Eat some of her favourite food. Don’t ignore it, as the kids won’t.

A quiet chat with the school might be advised if they are primary age. But to be honest the school will already be thinking about this in our experience. Having a class sit around making cards is always a tough day!

My father died when I was 6, my sister died leaving four children 13 down to 7.

I think TiRed has pretty much covered it.. definitely don't ignore it, try and make it a 'celebration of life'
Going for a nice walk somewhere she liked would be good - then maybe coming home to her favourite meal?
It's gonna be tough, but you might be surprised how much the kids embrace it if you try and put a positive spin on it.

Thinking of you mate. The bulbs the kids planted are showing now, do you fancy bringing the kids round to see them?

I could do with some help with the woodcutting too!

Thanks for thinking of me, it really means a lot. Still up at stupid o'clock and just seen your replies.

The day went OK. Very emotional, kids a bit lost, but we all got through it. I received cards they made in school as well as ones they made for mummy to go on her shelf. I was really touched by it all. Bought some Ferrero Rocher, mummy's favourite, that she used to share with them on each special occasion. This is one thing I will keep doing, it's one small thing they remember and puts a smile on their faces.

After lunch I braved leaving the house and ventured to Llanelli. I say braved it, i was dragged out by a friend. We all fed the swans and ducks, walked round the lake and had an ice cream. Ended up eating out and we didn't get back until 9:30! A bit later than planned, but a good distraction and something nice hopefully they will all remember.

Ambrose - been meaning to pop over, sorry. Next weekend I'm marshaling at battle on the beach (someone volunteered to have the kids so I could) and the week after is the start of the Easter hols. Will get in touch and arrange when it's convenient. Thankyou.

Sounds like as good a day as it could have been. Very pleased it seems to have gone well. Take care Gnusmas.
